Along Comes Cal by Cal Tjader

Produced by

Arranged & Conducted by Chico O'Farrill

Recorded March 28 & 29 1967 at Van Gelder Studios, New Jersey

Los Bandidos Recorded Live at El Matador Jan. 1967

Another killer session from Cal Tjader. There are two stand-out classics on this album. The first is the live recording of "Los Bandidos" which is awesome and a reworking of "Samba Do Sueñho" from the classic "Bamboleate" album with Eddie Palmieri. This version of "Samba Do Sueñho" is more uptempo with an incredibly tight and slamming rhythm section. It also has a fantastic piano solo by Al Zulacia. This version just keeps getting better and better so grab it because it's hot!

Thanks for this!
I've been working my way back from the 70s Tjader albums into the 60s , and this one's lovely.

I had this version of Samba Do Sueñho from a CD comp sometime ago , and always wondered which album it came from. Monster track! I've used it out DJ-ing many times, had decided that it's the ultimate Tjader DJ track ...

Now I understand why this album is awesome: Chico O'Farrill, Barretto, Bobby Rodriguez, Chick Correa, Tjader.
One of my favorites of Cal :)
